The Congregation & Non-Essential Programs

27 Nov

Scripture makes clear that the local church is to do specific things. The congregation is expected to meet regularly for worship and prayer. As well as mutually encourage one another.

Some would say that all of these things can be accomplished in Sunday morning worship. Other’s would drive for program after program to accomplish these goals. But there comes a point when the church starts to operate in a new format than that of a congregation. A “local church” that has youth group, college group, young couples group, seniors group, Sunday school, small groups, worship styles A, B, & C, a school… must at some point realize that they have many divided congregations and are no longer truly united as one.

The questions we must address are:
What mission did Jesus give to our congregation?
What programs are needed to fulfill His mission?

The hard stuff begins now with: HOW DO WE ROLE THIS OUT?
